A Farewell

Today I popped up to Paraparaumu Airport to take some photos of an icon that will soon not be seen in New Zealand skies. The last two airworthy Douglas DC-3 aircraft are in the process of sale overseas, so this was a last chance, and it was right on my doorstep.

I don’t have the data to check, but I suspect that DC-3s have been plying New Zealand skies every year since World War 2. Air Chathams’ ZK-AWP was giving rides all weekend in conjunction with the Kāpiti Districts Aero Club open days.

Unlike usual posts, you’ll find every one of my photos below. No need to go to Flickr, however clicking on any photo will take you to it on Flickr.
